The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Wednesday appointed senior leader and former Education Minister Bosiram Siram as the new President of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), replacing veteran leader and ex-Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
The announcement was made through an official statement by AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal, signalling a fresh push to revitalise the party in the strategically important border state.
The Congress high command lauded Tuki’s leadership during a tumultuous period marked by mass defections, internal dissent, and the steady expansion of the BJP’s influence in the region. Tuki, who served as APCC chief multiple times, had become a key figure in holding the party together during its most fragile moments in Arunachal politics.
Bosiram Siram’s appointment is being viewed as an attempt to inject new energy into the party’s state unit ahead of the next round of elections. Known for his clean image and deep grassroots connect, Siram is expected to bring stability and renewed focus to the Congress organisation in the state.
Congress insiders say Siram’s strong grasp of Arunachal’s tribal dynamics and rural concerns will be crucial in rebuilding the party’s support base, especially among youth and village communities. His leadership is likely to emphasise inclusive development, local issues, and strengthening of the organisational structure at the block and district levels.
The change in guard has been welcomed by party workers and supporters across Arunachal Pradesh, many of whom see the move as a timely course correction.
